On September 10, 2016, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Panrasee Ritthipravat, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and the member of AIM Laboratory was awarded the first runner-up from the invention namely “Gyro-roller of hands and arms for physical therapy in the contest “i-MEDBOT Innovation Contest 2016" organized by the Centre of Excellence for Life Sciences (TCELS)

Welcome Student Exchange from NUS

11-22 November, 2013: Department of Biomedical Engineering have been pleased to welcome eight students exchange and professor from Department of Bioengineering, National University of Singapore in the program expose the NUS and MU students to the clinical settings and expertise in the medicine field, students can identify some of the clinical question and problems and propose the related solutions with the innovative engineering design , students open an opportunity for the students from both institutions to collaborate with international students and strengthen the relationship between Mahidol University and National University of Singapore Between this program, the student from both university have been had an opportunity for study and visit Laboratory of Biomed (BIONEDD Lab, BCI, SMART, BARTLLAB, AIM, CADIO ART STEN LAB) , Golden Jubilee Medical Center, Phuttamonthon Hospital and Sirindhorn School of prosthetics and orthotics (SSPO) for study about the technology or innovation about the Biomedical field. On the Last day, the student have an opportunity for present and show their own project to professor and clinician .

A Visit from Liverpool

October 8, 2013: Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering recently welcomed a delegation from Liverpool John Moores University, England. The visitors are Prof. Xun Chen, Prof. Ahmed Al-Shamma, Mr. Tahsin Opoz. The purpose of their visit to tour Mahidol University, emphasis in Faculty of Engineering, their also interested to Research, Technological and future laboratory .

A Visit from Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM), Mexico

October 3, 2013: Ing.Joaquin Guerra VP of International Program of Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM) and Ing.Gerardo Silveyra, Director of school of Engineering at Chihuahua Campus, Mexico have visited Mahidol University with an emphasis in Biomedical Engineering, their also interested to research, technological and scientific project as well as possible forms to collaborate in the future.

Mahidol BME Students and Prof.Yodchanan Wongsawat has won the Champion Award at i-CREATe, Korea, for Ankle-Foot Passive Motion Device for Footdrop.

August 31, 2013: Ankle-Foot Passive Motion Device for Footdrop is developed by Prof.Yodchanan Wongsawat and his students has won Champion Award at the 7th International Convention on Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology 2013 in Korea, This device is invented by Mahidol BME students; Kittichai Tharawadeepimuk, Sittichai Iampetch, Lattika Tiawongsuwan and a physical therapist at Golden Jubilee Medical Center; Nida Vongsavat.

GYRO-ROLLER: A Rehab Device by Dr.Panrasee Ritthipravat and her AIM LAB Team won the Gold Medal prize in “2013 INST, Taipei

On September 29, 2013: GYRO-ROLLER: A Rehabilitation Device for Stroke Patient by Prof. Dr. Panrasee Ritthipravat, a faculty member at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Mahidol University and her AIM LAB team have won the Gold Metal Prize in the “2013 INST: The 9th Taipei International Invention Show & Technomart”, which has 700 participants from 21 countries around the world, at Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC), Taipei. This event is supported by National Research Council of Thailand. Participating in this fair is a good opportunity to enhance Thai invention to be recognized worldwide as well as to meet representative of the international private sector to encourage in Thai innovation and invention products. The GYRO-ROLLER also won the Special prize in International Intellectual Property Network Forum (IIPNF), Malaysia.

Mr. Ketpat Vejjasilpa and Ms. Sujittra Puntawee who are graduate students in Master degree program received the Outstanding Poster Presentation Award in The International Congress for Innovation in Chemistry

Mr. Ketpat Vejjasilpa and Ms. Sujittra Puntawee who are graduate students in Master degree program received the Outstanding Poster Presentation Award in The International Congress for Innovation in Chemistry (PERCH-CIC Congress VIII) on May 5-8, 2013 , Jomtien Palm Beach Hotel & Resort Pattaya, Chonburi, Thailand. The topic of Mr. Ketpat Vejjasilpa is “In Vitro Characterization in ACSF of PLECs Depots Loaded of SN-38 as a Direct Injection Drug Delivery System”. The topic of Ms. Sujittra Puntawee is “Preparation and In Vitro Evaluation of New Anticancer Compound Efficacy using Poly(ethylene glycol)-b-poly(D,L-lactide) (PEG-b-PLA) Copolymeric Micelles.

IM-AIM Software by Prof. Panrasee Ritthipravat and her AIM LAB Team Won the 1st Prize and a Million Baht Award in “The Thai IT Tycoon 2012”

On December 20, 2012: Prof. Panrasee Ritthipravat, a faculty member at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Mahidol University, and her AIM LAB team have won the 1st Prize with the Award of One Million Baht in the “Thai IT Tycoon 2012” for the IM-AIM Software Business Plan. The Thai IT Tycoon is organized by Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA), Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Thailand. The prize and award were presented by the ICT Minister, Gp.Capt. Anudith Nakornthap which the award ceremony was held at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok Hotel on December 20, 2012. The IM-AIM Software (Image and Artificial Intelligence in Medicine) was developed to handle medical imaging using AI to enhance the image qualities for improving the efficiency in medical diagnosis. This work was done under a collaboration with Dr.Phallapa Petison and Dr. Voraphan Raungpaka from College of Management, Mahidol University.

Mahidol-BME and NUS-Bioengineering Established an MU-NUS Undergrad Student Exchanging Program to Create Project Collaborations Among Undergrad Students from Both Universities

On December 10, 2012: Department of Biomedical Engineering, Mahidol University and Department of Bioengineering, National University of Singapore have established the MU-NUS Undergrad Student Exchanging Program. Prof. Tow Siew Lok, on behalf of Prof. James Koh, the Head of Department of Bioengineering, NUS and Prof. Jackrit Suthakorn, the Head of Department of Biomedical Engineering, Mahidol University have agreed to establish the new exchanging program between undergrad students from both universities. On December 10-22, 2012, 10 NUS-Bioengineering students have visited the Mahidol University to join 10 Mahidol-BME students for a two-week academic activities to create 5 Biomedical Engineering Research Projects for their Design Courses. The program includes visiting Mahidol BME Research Laboratories, Golden Jubilee Medical Institute of Mahidol University and other recreation activities to create research projects from Real-Medical Problems after the observations. The students are grouped together into 5 groups to determine and solve the medical problem based on Biomedical Engineering Knowledge for the better solutions. Prof. Sanitta Thongpang has lead the activities through the in-bound visit while the Mahidol Students are planning to pay the visit to finalize the project at NUS in the next semester.

Brain-Computer Interface International Workshop, Organized at Mahidol BME Under the Collaboration Between Mahidol University, Thailand and Kyushu University, Japan

On December 8, 2012: Department of Biomedical Engineering, Mahidol University by Prof. Yodchanan Wongsawat, the leader of Brain-Computer Interface Lab (BCI LAB), and the Graduate School of Systems Life Sciences, Kyushu University, Japan have been co-organizing an International Workshop on Brain-Computer Interface on December 8-9, 2012. The workshop included hands-on experiments and a competition on Brain Signal Controlled Electrical RC Cars. The attendances were groped into 3 groups to explore the technology and competition. This event was to strengthen the collaboration between Mahidol University and Kyushu University on Brain-Computer Interface Research.


Mahidol BME Undergrad Students Awarded the Top Score on Presentation Award from TESA-Thai Embedded System Association at the TOP GUN RALLY 2012

On November 13, 2012: A group of undergrad students from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Mahidol University received an award on “Top Score on Presentation” at the TESA Top Gun Rally 2012, organized by TESA-Thai Embedded System Association on October 21-27, 2012. The TESA President, Prof. Apinetr Unakul, presented the award to the students at the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University on November 13, 2012.



Mahidol BME Undergrad Students were Selected to be the 2012 Young Thai Science Ambassadors.

On October 27, 2012: Miss Pimpisut Worakajit and Miss Jidapa Chaopaknam, the second year students from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Mahidol University, were selected to be the 2012 Young Thai Science Ambassadors. The selections and awards were done at the program of Young Thai Science Ambassador Award 2012 (YTSA 2012), organized by the National Science Museum (NSM), Goethe-Institute Thailand, TRUE Vision and The Science Society of Thailand Under the Patronage of His Majesty the King from October 23-27, 2012. The Yong Thai Science Ambassadors are scheduled for an academic visit to Germany on April 5-13, 2013.
