Program overview
 
        This degree program in Chemical Engineering aims to develop professional chemical engineers whose academic and working qualities satisfy local and international employers, by fostering undergraduate education and research skills in a stimulating multidisciplinary scientific and engineering environment. The program includes a series of skill-building learning activities that allow students to develop employability skills and ability to learn independently. Additionally, we have secured commitments through memorandum of understanding with international universities to provide students with opportunities to participate in academic activities those universities, e.g. research activities, credit transfer.
 
 
Goal:       To develop globally-competent chemical engineering graduates who possess both knowledge and practical skills for Thailand and overseas.

  • Students who achieve a satisfactory completion of 2 years of study on this program will be eligible to transfer and entry into Level 3 of BEng (Chemical Engineering) program at the University of Strathclyde, UK. The students will also be awarded a scholarship equating to 15% of the standard overseas feed rate (approximately 18,000 GBP per year) annually.   • Students have opportunities to take internship programs with our partner institutions, e.g. University of Strathclyde (UK), Kyoto University (Japan), Universiti Putra Malaysia (Malaysia), and University of North Texas (USA).
  • Students would enjoy research collaborations with national, but world-class, institutions, naming Department of Biomedical Engineering (MU) Electrical Engineering (MU), Faculty of Pharmacy (MU), Department of Food and Bioprocess Engineering (AIT), Department of Chemistry, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO), Center of Excellence in Particle Technology (CU), National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC).

Admission requirement :
 
          1. The applicant must achieve one of the academic qualifications as follows:
                 1.1 The applicant is currently studying or has graduated a Mathayom 6 with Science-Math program.
                 1.2 The applicant is currently studying or has earned a High School Certificate for Grade 12 in accordance with American education system.
                 1.3 The applicant is currently studying or has earned a High School Certificate for Year 13 in accordance with British education system.
                 1.4 The applicant has earned Diploma or a certificate equivalent to high school education certified by the Ministry of Education of Thailand.

          2. The applicant must achieve one of the following options (2.2.1, 2.2.2 or 2.2.3):
                 2.2.1 The applicant meets the English proficiency requirement by achieving a minimum score of one of the following English proficiency exams:
                          2.1.1 IELTS Academic Test at least 5.0
                          2.1.2 TOEFL Paper-based (TOEFL-ITP) at least 490
                          2.1.3 TOEFL Internet-based (TOEFL-iBT) at least 35
                          2.1.4 MU Grad Test at least 60


          Note: English proficiency examination must have been taken no more than 2 years before the interview date.


                 2.2.2 The applicant meets one of the following standardized test scores:
                          2.2.1 SAT ≥ 1,100 (Math ≥ 600)
                          2.2.2 SAT Subject Test in Math II, Physics, Chemistry: ≥ 570 for each subject and at least one subject must have ≥ 600
                          2.2.3 GCSE/IGCSE in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry ≥ C on for each subject
                          2.2.4 ACT ≥ 21 by averaging in all subjects


          Note: The examination must have been taken no more than 2 years prior to the application date.


                 2.2.3 The applicant from Mahidol University International Demonstration School (MUIDS) must meet all the following criteria:
                          2.3.1 Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPAX) ≥ 3.00
                          2.3.2 Grade Point Average (GPA) of Physics and/or Chemistry ≥ C
          3. The applicant must have no medical condition, disability, mental condition, alcoholism or addiction to narcotics or any substance abuse, color blind, or non-communicable diseases without any preventive or controlled treatment, e.g. epilepsy, heart disease, or nephropathy, which may interfere during education.

Application supporting documents :
 

         1. Certified copy of the most recent transcript showing the applicant's grades in 4 semesters or 6 trimesters based on education system
         2. Certificate showing the completion of high school degree or equivalents approved by the Ministry of Education of Thailand (For applicants who have already graduated high school or passed the equivalency exams)
         3. A photocopy of identification card and house registration (Thai residents only) or a photocopy of passport (non-Thai applicants)
         4. 1x1 inch, straight-faced photo
         5. A photocopy of a change of name/last name certificate (only if different from name/last name in the documents required for application)
         6. If the applicant is not currently or has not previously been registered as a high school student at Mahidol University International Demonstration School (MUIDS), the applicant must submit official report of one of the following tests:
               6.1 English proficiency tests: IELTS, TOEFL or MU Grad Test
               6.2 SAT
               6.3 GSCE/IGCSE
               6.4 ACT
          7. Statement of purpose (only 1 page of A4 paper size with 200-300 words) expressing the purpose of study in chemical engineering program and expected career
          8. Certificate from the government hospital of any country to certify that the applicant has no health conditions, or color blind, which may interfere during education

The applicant must bring all original and/or copied documents, and the original bank deposit slip in the interview date. All copied documents must be certified that they are true copies of the original documents, signed and dated.

 
Selection criteria :
 
       The Faculty of Engineering will make the final decision for the admission according to the following criteria:
       1. Academic knowledge assessed from English proficiency test, SAT, GCSE/IGCSE or ACT scores (70%)
       2. Interview score assessed by personal information, education record, ability to communicate, initiative, intelligence, extracurricular activities and attitude. (30%)
