A student from the Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, has earned national recognition by winning the Second Runner-Up award in the EGAT Green I: Season 2 competition, organized by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). Ms. Kornchanok Phutrakool, a second-year Computer Engineering student, received award, plus a cash prize of 10,000 Baht. The competition, with the theme “Circular Earth, Circular Economy,” promotes creative innovation for sustainable environmental development among young innovators across the country.
As a representative of Team WATT THE POWER, Ms. Kornchanok Phutrakul presented an innovative project based on the Circular Economy concept in the energy sector: “Cathode Synthesis from Power Plant By-products for Silicon Carbide Production via Molten Salt Electrolysis.” The project introduces a novel approach for the efficient use of energy industry by-products. It stood out for its circular economy concept: adding value to industrial waste, minimizing environmental impact, and promoting efficient resource utilization. The project demonstrates how new-generation engineers can integrate advanced technology with environmental awareness to drive sustainable innovation.
The Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, takes pride in this achievement, which highlights the creativity, capability, and passion of its young engineers. Their success serves as inspiration for the next generation to continue developing technologies that contribute to a more sustainable world.
