On 28 April 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Thanapat Wanichanon, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, joined the 9th MU Safety Day: “Preparing for the Unexpected”. He received the 2024 Outstanding Certificate of Honor Award from Professor Dr. Piyamitr Sritara, MD, FRCP, President of Mahidol University, in the foyer of the Prince Mahidol Hall.
The event was organized by the Center for Occupational Safety, Health and Workplace Environment Management (COSHEM) to promote a sustainable safety culture in educational institutions. The event included a report on safety performance over the year, emergency response knowledge exchange activity, and an awards ceremony to honor agencies and personnel with outstanding safety performance. Participants also took part in a symbolic safety gift-giving activity to demonstrate their commitment to creating a safety culture in the organization.
During the same event, the laboratory of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering also received a Laboratory Safety Award from the Peer Evaluation and the Model Research Laboratory Award for Safety Standards in Chemical-Related Laboratories according to the ESPReL Standards for 2024:
1. Laboratory EGCatLAB3_CH301/1 - Energy and Green Catalyst Laboratory 3, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Weerawut Chaiwat, a lecturer from the Department of Chemical Engineering: the representative receiving the award.
2. Laboratory CARPLAB_CH116 - Catalyst and Carbon Nanotubes Reaction Process Prototyping Laboratory under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Sakhon Ratchahat, a lecturer from the Department of Chemical Engineering, who was the representative to receive the award.
The event is in line with the International Day for Safety and Occupational Health, which falls on April 28 of each year. The object is to encourage personnel and students to be aware of the importance of following safety measures at work and in education, as well as to promote the exchange of knowledge and good practices between various agencies.
