On May 30, 2025: Assistant Professor Dr. Pornthip Keangin, Deputy Dean for Innovation Incubation and Alumni Relations at the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, with the Engineering for Social Responsibility Unit, participated in a community research discussion at the Thong Urai Elderly Club Office in Salaya, Nakhon Pathom Province.
Also taking part were Assistant Professor Benjamat O-ranratanamanee from the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, and Mr. Prasert Eimaerbrat, President of the Club.
The meeting was part of an ongoing research initiative aimed at enhancing vocational and engineering skills to reduce the generational gap and promote sustainable community development. The project specifically addresses skill development among youth and the elderly—key factors in building an inclusive and resilient society. By collaborating with local communities, the research team ensures that their activities are well-aligned with the local context.
During the field visit, the team conducted data collection from target groups to support analysis and the development of strategies that foster intergenerational skill-sharing. The goal is to design vocational activities that effectively integrate engineering knowledge with the real needs of both younger and older generations.
This initiative reflects the Faculty of Engineering’s strong commitment to advancing innovation and engineering knowledge for social benefit. It also highlights the university’s role in strengthening sustainable community partnerships through its principles of social responsibility.
