On June 6, 2025, the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, welcomed delegates from the Songkhla Provincial Rehabilitation Fund.
They were visiting the Faculty as part of a knowledge enhancement and study visit program aimed at improving operational standards. The event began with a welcoming address by Assistant Professor Dr. Korporn Panyim, Deputy Dean for Administration and Finance.
Key highlights of the visit included presentations on the ongoing research being carried out by the Department. Dr. Titipat Achakulvisut provided an overview of biomedical engineering projects. This was followed by Dr. Shen Treratanakulchai, who showcased research from the Biomedical and Robotics Technology Lab (BART LAB). These sessions reflected the Faculty’s cutting-edge work and commitment to advancing biomedical technologies.
The visiting group included representatives from Songkhla-based organizations. These included Assistant Professor Dr. Nikom Suvonvorn, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Prince of Songkla University. Personnel from Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organization, Songkhla Hospital, Khuha Subdistrict Administration Organization, Hat Yai Hospital, Songkhla Provincial Public Health Office, the Songkhla Community Foundation, and local government bodies also attended. This visit marked an important step in building collaborative networks between the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, and regional community stakeholders.
As part of the program, Assistant Professor Dr. Pornthip Keangin, Deputy Dean for Innovation Incubation and Alumni Relations, took delegates on a tour of key research facilities, including the BART LAB and the Brain-Computer Interface Laboratory (BCI LAB). These visits allowed participants to explore how biomedical engineering research can be applied to rehabilitation and support for persons with disabilities - insights that can help enhance local initiatives in Songkhla Province.
