The Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, through its Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, continues to strengthen its international academic network. Professor Chettiyapan Visvanathan was invited as a Visiting Faculty member by Ho Chi Minh University of Technology and Vietnam National University to participate in a range of academic and research activities, including delivering lectures, reviewing graduate research work, preparing joint research publications, visiting field research centers, and attending an international conference on environmental sustainability.
On October 24, 2025, Professor Visvanathan delivered a presentation on “Tackling Plastic Waste Data Collection: Challenges in the Lower Mekong Basin” at Ho Chi Minh University of Technology. The seminar drew more than 70 participants, including graduate students and research staff. It received an enthusiastic response from the audience. Following the seminar, Professor Visvanathan provided academic guidance to graduate students to help them improve their research projects and prepare manuscripts for journal publication. He also visited field data collection sites related to their studies to provide in-depth consultation and practical advice for enhancing research outcomes.
His visit concluded with participation in the “International Conference on Sustainable Science and Technology 2025: Green Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation” held at Nguyen Tat Thanh University on October 31, 2025. Professor Visvanathan was invited as keynote speaker. He made a presentation on “Climate-Resilient Urban Wastewater Management Solutions: Protecting Cities Under Pressure.”
This academic engagement not only strengthened collaborative ties between Mahidol University and leading Vietnamese institutions but also contributed to building the capacity of young researchers in the fields of environmental management and sustainability - promoting impactful solutions for the environmental challenges of the region.
