The Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, Welcomed 20 undergraduate students and 2 faculty members from the Civil Engineering program at Harbin Engineering University (HEU), People’s Republic of China. The visit took place from 19-25 January 2026. It is part of an academic exchange program that will strengthen educational collaboration and the strong partnership between the institutions.
During the exchange, HEU students participated in courses and academic activities organized by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University. One of the highlights was the Shake Table Workshop & Competition, in which students gained hands-on experience in structural engineering concepts. The activities were guided by Associate Professor Dr. Teraphan Ornthammarath, Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. They provided students with insights into teaching methodologies, practical application of civil engineering knowledge, and the opportunity to exchange academic and research experience with Mahidol faculty members and students.
In addition to academic activities, the program included Thai language and cultural learning sessions, allowing the students to experience the Thai lifestyle, traditions, and culture. These activities helped enhance cross-cultural understanding and mutual appreciation. The program also featured an educational visit to the headquarters of Siam Cement Pcl. in Bangkok, giving students an international perspective on engineering practice and industrial operations.
This academic exchange marks another important milestone in advancing the internationalization of the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University. It contributes to the academic and professional development of students and faculty through shared learning in an international context, while laying a strong foundation for sustainable academic collaboration between the two universities in the future.
