Associate Professor Dr. Thanapat Wanichanon, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, welcomed Professor Liu Zhiling, Vice Dean, and Professor Yu Lingzhou from the College of Intelligent Systems Science and Engineering, Harbin Engineering University (HEU), People’s Republic of China. The Dean was accompanied by Assistant Professor Dr. Pattaraporn Posoknistakul, Deputy Dean for International Relations and Corporate Communication; Assistant Professor Dr. Wasaporn Techapeeraparnich, Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs; and Associate Professor Dr. Jackrit Suthakorn, Founder of the Center for Biomedical and Robotics Technology (BART LAB), along with faculty members.
The delegation from Harbin visited the Faculty between 25 January and 21 February 2026 to discuss academic collaboration. Discussions focused on knowledge exchange in intelligent systems, engineering, and advanced technologies. Faculty members from HEU are scheduled to participate in teaching relevant courses, organizing workshops and special lectures, as well as initiating joint research projects with various departments within the Faculty of Engineering. Dr. Eakkachai Warinsiriruk, a lecturer from the Department of Industrial Engineering, hosted a robotics workshop and delivered a special lecture aimed at enhancing the quality of teaching and strengthening international research collaboration.
The HEU delegation also met with Professor Chulathida Chomchai, M.D., Dean, and the executive team of Mahidol University International College (MUIC) to explore the joint development of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) curriculum among the three institutions: HEU, MUIC and the Faculty of Engineering. This initiative reflects the shared commitment to expanding international academic networks and collaborative development of academic programs and research aligned with future technological advancements.
In addition, Professor Liu Zhiling and Professor Yu Lingzhou conducted interviews with students from the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, to select candidates for an internship program at Harbin Engineering University. The program offers students a valuable opportunity to gain international academic experience and further develop their research and innovation skills in a global environment.
