On 10 June 2026, the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, in collaboration with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), organized an online academic symposium: “Mind- Over-Matter: The Future of Human Capability.” The event was part of the academic partnership between the two institutions to promote knowledge exchange and advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Human-Machine Intelligence, and Neurotechnology: key technologies that are expected to play a role in enhancing human capabilities in the future.
The virtual symposium was officially opened by Associate Professor Dr. Thanapat Wanichanon, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University. The event featured distinguished researchers and experts from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Mahidol University, who shared their research findings and expertise. Speakers included Assistant Professor Dr. Jetsada Arnin, Assistant Professor Dr. Titipat Achakulvisut, and Dr. Shen Treratanakulchai. They were joined by faculty members from UTS, including Dr. Yu-Kai Wang, Dr. Jun Li, and Dr. Jayan Jayan Chirayath Kurian.
The symposium focused on emerging research and innovative applications of AI in conjunction with neuroscience technologies, medical rehabilitation, and Human-Machine Intelligence systems. These rapidly evolving fields hold potential for improving quality of life, advancing healthcare solutions, and driving innovations capable of addressing future societal challenges.
The event marked another important milestone in the collaboration between Mahidol University and UTS. It strengthened the international research network and provided valuable opportunities for students, faculty members and researchers from both institutions to exchange academic perspectives and explore future collaboration.
