On January 30, 2024, Mahidol University, led by Prof. Banchong Mahaisavariya, President of Mahidol University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanapat Wanichanon, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Assoc. Prof. Waressara Weerawat, Deputy Head of the Cluster of Logistics and Rail Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, participated in signing a memorandum of understanding for the development of innovation in the country's railway system technology. The collaborative agreement involved the Rail Technology Research and Development Agency (Public Organization), represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chotchai Charoenngam, Chairman of Rail Technology Research and Development Agency, Dr. Piang-or Loahavilai, Committee Member, and Dr. Kanrawee Thongpull, Deputy Director (Acting as Director).
The signing ceremony took place at the Mahidol Learning Center, Room 217, Mahidol University, Salaya. The event also featured a discussion on the topic 'Rang with us,' with participants including Asst. Prof. Siradol Siridhara, Head of the Cluster of Logistics and Rail Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University, and Lecturer Nakhon Chantasorn, former acting governor of the State Railway of Thailand. The discussion was moderated by Mr. Kittiphan Butayakul, a student of the Doctor of Philosophy program in Logistics and Engineering Management at the Faculty of Engineering, Mahidol University.
The objective of the memorandum signing ceremony is to facilitate collaboration for the research and development of railway system technology, including the creation of innovations related to the rail system. This collaboration aims to support research and development of technology, promote the use of innovations within the country, facilitate the transfer and exchange of knowledge on railway technology research and development among agencies. This includes aspects related to frameworks, operational methodologies, tools used for technology development, and support for domestic products (Local Content). The collaboration also aims to develop the potential and skills of personnel engaged in research and development of railway technology.
