Student Admission for Bachelor of Engineering Program in Biomedical Engineering (International Program) Faculty of Engineering Direct Admission (Round 2) by Faculty, Academic Year 2021

The Faculty of Engineering is now open for the submission of applications to the Bachelor of Engineering Program in Biomedical Engineering (International Program) for the Second Round of Direct Admission to the Faculty, for Academic year 2021. The Faculty of Engineering hereby announces the details on admission as the following:

Expected number of students: 3 persons

Students should be graduated only from high schools abroad

Admission requirements

2.1 Certificate indicating the completion of high school degree

Completion or currently studying Grade 12 or Year 13 or equivalent

2.2 The applicant meets the academic achievement standards by achieving a minimum score of one of the following:

2.2.1 GCE As-Level or GCE A-Level: At least 3 different subjects, with minimum grade of C.

2.2.2 International Baccalaureate (IB): The total score of 6 subjects at least 24 and at least 4 for each subject.

2.2.3 GED: The total score of 4 subjects at least 660 and at least 145 for each subject.

2.3 The applicant meets the English proficiency requirement by achieving the minimum score from one of the following language tests:

2.3.1 IELTS Academic Test at least 5.5

2.3.2 TOEFL Paper-based (TOEFL-ITP) at least 500

2.3.3 TOEFL Internet-based (TOEFL-IBT) at least 64

2.3.4 MU Grad Test at least 70

2.3.5 MU-ELT at least 91

2.3.6 SAT I (Reasoning Test) at least 1,000

Note: English proficiency examination should have been taken no more than 2 years before the interview date.

2.4 The applicant must have no medical condition and severe color blindness which may interfere with the education.

Supporting documents

3.1 Certificate indicating the completion of high school degree or equivalents approved by the Ministry of Education of Thailand (For applicants who have already graduated from high school or passed the equivalency exams)

3.2 A copy of official report for academic achievement standards according to section 2.2

3.3 School Profile in English Version

3.4 A photocopy of identification card and house registration (Thai residents only) or a photocopy of passport (Non-Thai applicants)

3.5 1x1 inch, straight-faced photo

3.6 A photocopy of a change of name/last name certificate (only if different from name/last name in the documents required for application)

3.7 Portfolio

3.8 Statement of Purpose (1 page, A4), expressing the purpose of study in Biomedical Engineering Program and expected career

3.9 Recommendation: 3 letters

3.10 Official report of one of the following English proficiency tests according to section 2.3

3.11 Certificate to certify that the applicant is not severely color blinded which may interfere with the education

Note: on the interview day, the applicant must bring all original and/or copied documents, and the original bank deposit slip. (All copied documents must be certified that they are true copies of the original documents, signed and dated).

4.3 The applicant submits the completed application form and supporting documents (see Section 3) in person or via email:

4.4 Both accepted applicants and applicants from the waiting list with Thai nationality must sign up in TCAS64 system at www.mytcas.com scheduled by Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT).

4.5 Accepted applicants with Thai nationality must confirm or withdraw the enrollment through a Clearing House system scheduled by Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT).

Selection criteria

The Faculty of Engineering will make the final decision for the admission according to the following criteria:

Portfolio, Statement of Purpose and Recommendation (40 %)
Transcript (20 %)
English Proficiency Test (20 %)
Interview Score (20 %)

Note: Interview Score is assessed by personal information, education record, communication skill, initiative, intelligence, extracurricular activities and attitude.

English Competence Standards for Undergraduate Student of Mahidol University

Undergraduate students shall pass English proficiency test before graduation in accordance with the conditions and criteria set by the university which is considered one of the consideration for degree approval according to Mahidol University Regulations on Diploma and Undergraduate studies (Issue 5), B.E.2559 announced on May 30, 2016 and Mahidol University Announcement on English Language Proficiency Standards of Undergraduate Studies, B.E.2563 announced on September 24, 2020 and second announcement, announced on December 25, 2020
